Appointments and online orders are not currently available. Families may start making appointments for the fall/winter 2025-2026 season in September.

The Clothesline offers a welcoming space where kids can find clothes they love and feel confident wearing. Qualifying students will be able to select a full wardrobe of clothing twice a year – free of charge. The basic wardrobe includes:

  • 5 tops, shirts, or blouses
  • 4 bottoms, pants, shorts, or skirts
  • 5 pairs of new underwear and socks.

We can also typically provide, as available:

  • Shoes
  • Pajamas
  • Formalwear
  • Bras
  • Coat, hat, gloves and scarf in winter
  • Swimwear in summer
  • Accessories.

In order to prepare for and plan the best shopping experience, students and their families must make an appointment at The Clothesline in advance.

Eligibility

The Clothesline serves qualifying children attending school in Arlington (kindergarten to 12th grade). At this time, we do not serve pre-school students.

There are three ways to qualify:

  1. Present a current Free & Reduced Meal qualification letter from Arlington Public Schools indicating your child’s name.
  2. Present a referral letter from a school social worker, a local social services organization, or a place of worship.
  3. If your child attends a community eligibility school you may present a screenshot of their current class schedule in ParentVue.
